TwoRepublicansenatorssentalettertotheU.S.SmallBusinessAdministration(SBA)todemandanswersaboutwhythePlannedParenthoodFederationofAmericareceivedmorethan$100millioninCOVID-19relieffunds,whichthelawmakersallegewas“unlawful.”
KentuckySen.RandPaul,thechairmanoftheCommitteeonHomelandSecurityandGovernmentalAffairs,andIowaSen.JoniErnst,whochairstheCommitteeonSmallBusinessandEntrepreneurship,sentalettertoSBAAdministratorKellyLoefflertorequestdocumentsandrecordsrelatedtoPlannedParenthood’sreceiptoffundingthroughthePaycheckProtectionProgram(PPP).
Accordingtotheletter,PlannedParenthoodaffiliatesreceivedabout$120millioninPPPloansin2020and2021.
Lawmakershaveinquiredaboutthefundingforthepastfewyears,thoughtheyreportedlydidnotreceivetheinformationfromthepreviousadministration.
