Anti-abortion groups mount effort to strip Planned Parenthood funding ahead of Supreme Court hearing

WASHINGTON(AP)—Majoranti-abortiongroupsweregatheringinthenation’scapitalonThursdaytobeginalobbyingeffortwithCongressandPresidentDonaldTrump’sadministrationaimedateliminatingfundingforPlannedParenthoodaheadoftheSupremeCourthearingacaseinAprilthatcouldstriptheorganization’sfundinginSouthCarolina.
Theanti-abortiongroupsaretakingaimatabortionprovidersunderaninitiativecalledDefundPlannedParenthood,whichtargetsfederalMedicaidfundingforthereproductivehealthcareprovider.
“ThiseventbeginsanintensiveroundofoutreachtotheGOP,callingonthemtotakeadvantageofthisuniquemomenttodefundtheabortionindustry,”StudentsforLife,thenationalanti-abortiongrouporganizingtheevent,saidinastatement.
