CHEYENNE,Wyo.(AP)—WhethertheWyomingConstitutionenshrinesabortionrightswasakeysubjectinstateSupremeCourtargumentsWednesday,whichalsodelvedintowhetherlegislatorsmayregulatetheprocedure.
Justicestooktheargumentsunderadvisementandwillrulelater,typicallyafterafewmonths.
WyominghassoughttoenacttwoabortionbanssincetheU.S.SupremeCourtin2022overturneditslandmarkRoev.Wadedecision.Thefirstbanisagainstabortiongenerallyandtheotheragainstmedicationabortions,whichwouldbethefirstbanofitskindintheU.S.
HoweverabortionhasremainedlegalsinceastatejudgeinJacksonblockedthelawsandthenruledtheywereunconstitutional.ThestateappealedtotheWyomingSupremeCourt.
